Ecological Construction is an engineering studio that specializes in green building.
A green or sustainable building is a building that achieves a high level of efficiency: reducing the consumption of energy, water and other resources, minimising pollution. The LEED certificate (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the internationally accepted official recognition that establishes whether a building deserves to be considered sustainable.
Mohamad Shahwan, a structure and transportation engineer as well as a green building consultant, saw the importance of green building and the immense difference it has on the environment and on the people. A research by Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health shows that workers in green, well-ventilated offices record a 100 percent increase in cognitive scores (brain function). Another research done by Park and Yoonin in 2011 suggests that better indoor air quality (low concentrations of CO2 and pollutants, and high ventilation rates) can lead to improvements in performance of up to 8 percent.
The design is inspired by minimalistic ecological thinking, with green and earthy colors.
